Dogs on London Bridge. Photo: Andy Blackmore

One at a time – a series of posts where I will examine a single image – today it’s the turn of Dogs Bollocks.

I think this picture is the dogs’ bollocks, but I would say that, wouldn’t I? Joking aside, it’s a great example of how street photography can lift the mundane daily life by highlighting the humour all around.

If you are a street photographer, I think you need one eye for the rhythm in nature and the world, and the other open to the comedy. It’s your job to highlight one of the other, but if you are lucky, both.

As it always does, serendipity played its part, as luck would have it, I had a long lens on, in fact, a very long lens, the Fujifilm XF 150-600mm, using the full 600mm, that’s a 900mm 35mm equivalent.

While it’s a decisive moment, it’s also a visual pun, it’s whimsy, and somehow very British, a bit like me.
